New Thing is your love in action, inside the former Soviet Union

Curious about where NewThing.net came from?

A report from Doug Brendel to all who support or follow New Thing in Belarus...

After all the stuff Covid changed, here’s one more:

Your love, through New Thing, was a game-changer for the Children’s Village orphans....

“In search of INCREDIBLE”?...

You’ve already done it!

Every year, orphans “graduate” from the foster system at Kobryn, Belarus.

They “age out,” under government regulations. They can’t stay.

They head out, most of them to college, but they have nothing.

So friends of New Thing provide “Life Starter Kits” with basics like bedding, kitchenware, an iron —

And, thanks to some extra-generous friends, a laptop!

(Here’s a brief photo report I posted when I met with the previous year’s graduates.)

But this was a year like no other.

Covid changed everything.

Those graduates heading out would have to do their freshman year of college via “distance learning.”

They were authorized to come back to the Children’s Village.

But they never could have done this first year of school without those laptops.

One of the house mothers wrote to us this week, to express their heartfelt thanks.

Translated from Russian, she said:

“I am writing to express my gratitude on behalf of alumni and mothers ... and say thank you a million times

to you and Kristina and to all donors who took part in the project with our alumni.”

I thank you, too.

Sometimes, a good deed turns out to be even better than you thought.

“For every child, sunshine!”

More adventures to come!

Thanks for journeying with us!

Much love,

Doug Brendel
