New Thing is your love in action, inside the former Soviet Union

Curious about where NewThing.net came from?

A report from Doug Brendel to all who support or follow New Thing in Belarus...

Imagine doing your own laundry by hand.

Now imagine a family of 120...

Their washing machine broke down years ago

I wrote to you about the 120 children at the boarding school in Porechya, Belarus.

This is where we installed a water purification system, and drinking fountains in the hallways.

I’ve learned that this is how the workers do the laundry.

The washing machine is nearly 80 years old, and doesn’t work at all.

The workers are doing 120 kids’ laundry by hand.

This is how they provide “security” for the school. It’s an ancient museum-relic lock.

Friends of New Thing could provide a new washing machine, big enough and dependable enough to handle 120 kids’ laundry, for just $900.

We could provide a weatherproof electromagnetic lock for the entrance, with a security camera linked to the director’s office, for another $600.

To help the workers, who are giving their lives to care for these kids ... and to keep them all safe ... I think it’s worth it.

Maybe there are 30 of us who would be willing to give $50 each? Whatever you can give will help!

Thanks for journeying with us!

Much love,

Doug Brendel
