New Thing is your love in action, inside the former Soviet Union
Curious about where NewThing.net came from?
A report from Doug Brendel to all who support or follow New Thing in Belarus...
On your mark, get set...
And THERE THEY GO!
The graduating orphans at the Children’s Village were celebrated with a festive farewell dinner.
Bittersweet for moms and dads, but it’s gratifying to see the children you’ve cared for launching into life.
Lots of food, lots of laughs, but also one serious tradition....
Each graduate writes a letter to themself, to be returned to them by their house parents 10 years from now.
The young people take this challenge seriously!
Armed with the contents of Life Starter Kits provided by generous friends of New Thing...
They’re out the door, and headed for the future!
For the younger children, more recently orphaned...
there’s a lot to get used to in this new place of love.
But there’s always a watchful mom or dad looking out for you.
Who knows where these little ones will end up? We can’t know.
All we can do is love them, pray for them, and help them while we can.
Thanks for journeying with New Thing!
Time to get on the bus.
More adventures to come!
Much love,
Doug Brendel
P.S. Update on our campaign to provide sleeper-sofas for the orphan homes:
18 households have generously given a total of $3405.45.
When we reach $7000, a Matching Challenge will double every gift given.
When the graduates come home for the holidays, they’ll need a place to sleep!
If you’d like to help, the orphans will be grateful! You can donate online here.
