New Thing is your love in action, inside the former Soviet Union

Curious about where NewThing.net came from?

A report from Doug Brendel to all who support or follow New Thing in Belarus...

Scrape your knee, there’s a Band-aid waiting...

Go ahead, be a child!

Just received a thank-you note from director Larisa (left) in Osipovichi.

She leads the dedicated team caring for children with disabilities in the boarding school.

It’s our annual New Thing tradition to provide a year’s worth of ordinary medicine-cabinet meds for the children here.

Their caregivers are deeply grateful for the aspirin, bandages, disinfectant, and much more.

We’ve been loving these children for a long time!

Here’s a shot from 11 years ago!

We first met this boy in 2013 (at left). He was a teen in 2016 ... and a fine young man by 2019.

He’s since aged out of the boarding school.

Today he lives successfully in an adult center, a testament to his excellent boarding school upbringing.

Here’s my pal Gairman in 2016 ... and clowning around in 2019.

Tatiana was born in 2008. “Nobody wanted her,” Larisa says.

Here she is in 2016 (studiously ignoring me), 2017 (now she’s my buddy), and 2019 (we’re pals; she loves the whiskers).

By 2022, she’s a budding teen!
And that’s a growing Gairman at left!

In this boarding school, there are more than 70 stories like Tatiana’s.

And every child here feels your love.

Thanks for journeying with New Thing. More adventures to come!

Much love,

Doug Brendel
