New Thing is your love in action, inside the former Soviet Union

Curious about where NewThing.net came from?

A report from Doug Brendel to all who support or follow New Thing in Belarus...

“Sleep well, my child”

Can a mattress be a miracle?

Years ago, in an effort to reverse a population decline, Belarus established an official designation of “families with many children,” making these registered “large families” eligible for humanitarian aid.

Today, nearly 20% of all children in the country are members of registered large families. Many of these families struggle to make ends meet.

But sometimes, there’s a happy surprise.

Last week, our “Response of the Heart” team received a load of brand-new mattresses donated from Germany.

In many families, a new mattress is an unthinkable luxury ... a gift of unspeakable value.

Registered large families were thrilled to come to our “Response of the Heart” distribution site and receive new mattresses!

(This young man is the 10th of 15 children in his family.)

As always, team director Anatoly scrupulously accounts for every ounce of aid.

You can meet Anatoly and one of the moms in a video (barely a minute long) here.

(You’ll hear videographer Oleg Yarovenko talking with Anatoly, both translated by Max Korostelyov.)

Thank you to all who support New Thing. You’re making minor miracles ... like this!

More adventures to come!

Much love,

Doug Brendel
