New Thing is your love in action, inside the former Soviet Union

Curious about where NewThing.net came from?

A report from Doug Brendel to all who support or follow New Thing in Belarus...

The kids at Osipovichi...

Love you!

You may have a disability, but it’s not “who you are.”

Welcome to a boarding school for children with physical and mental disabilities.

It’s in Osipovichi (say oh-see-PO-vee-chee), in Belarus.

Some of these children were abandoned here because of their disabilities.

Others come from families that simply cannot care for them — because of their disabilities.

But through your support of New Thing, you help these children.

Every year, we have the joy of providing their “medicine-cabinet” stuff:

Aspirin, bandages, basic meds and supplies.

This year, we’re also replacing broken windows, and making other improvements in the facility.

It’s a 24/7 operation. Home, school, clinic, everything.

Director Larisa (right) and her camera-shy staff of teachers, house parents, and other workers,

make this as much of a home as possible for the children.

You’re saying to these children:

Your disability is not who you are.

You are who you are. And you are valuable.

Thanks to all who follow New Thing and give so generously.

More adventures to come!

Much love,

Doug Brendel
